“The Infant mortality is a crucial indicator of the health and well-being of a population. It refers to the number of deaths of children under one year of age in relation to total births during a given period, usually expressed as a rate per 1,000 live births. Objective: to carry out a comparative analysis of the infant mortality profile between the municipality of Blumenau/SC and the state of Santa Catarina, using data from the National Information Systems from 2015 to 2020. Methods: Quantitative data located in the national information systems were used. information on mortality and morbidities, causes of hospital admissions from DATASUS/Ministry of Health and from the Brazilian Institute of Geography and Statistics – IBGE. Results: the infant mortality rate in Blumenau, from 2015 to 2020, showed fluctuations over the six years, with variations in mortality rates. The child component was responsible for most of the registered deaths. Perinatal conditions accounted for most of the causes of infant mortality, accounting for 55.5% of the total. Conclusions: It is noted that it is important to invest in maternal and child health, highlighting the need for public policies aimed at the main causes of infant mortality, such as perinatal conditions and congenital malformations.
