For World Health Organization, patient safety corresponds to minimizing the risk of unnecessary harm associated with health care. The issue of patient care security in institutions seems so obvious and embedded in daily life that when the media reports the occurrence of errors in health care, the reaction is perplexing. Thus, the objective of this study is to discuss the knowledge of nurses professionals related to adverse events, notification and feelings involved in this process. This is a quantitative study of a descriptive-exploratory nature, which is part of a larger project entitled "Patient Safety Core" developed by the Faculty of Technology and Sciences since 2017. Where the sample consisted of nurses working in a General Hospital in the interior of Bahia, acting in the direct assistance to patients in the male and female medical clinics. The study allowed to know the feelings experienced by nursing professionals, where the fear appears in the answers, related to the punishment, but as a consequence of damages for the professional itself than for the patient.
