Introduction: In Brazil, Primary Care is developed with the highest degree of decentralization and interpersonal care, taking place in the places closest to people's lives. The Family Health Support Centers (NASF) are part of Primary Care, but do not constitute services with independent or special physical units. Objective: to highlight the importance of the interdisciplinary participation of professionals who work in Primary Care and their role as a health promoter in the group of elderly people attending the carioca academy. Methodology: For the development of this research, we chose to carry out an experience report of the activities developed by the Family Health and NASF teams. Conclusion: it is possible to affirm that the NASF makes contributions to the control and maintenance of systemic and endocrine diseases, prevention of falls and among others, through its support network with the teams, implementing and strengthening primary care services and reducing numbers of hospitalizations and/or referrals for consultations for specialties.
